The whole messy story, in four beats. Guardrails existed early — the jailbreaks and the hype just made it feel lawless. Real harms — fabricated facts, cheating, privacy leaks, scams — drove the apps to get stricter. Then came the over-correction — needless refusals, visible bias, corporate control. Which leaves the two paths: rent the polished cloud apps and live by their rules, or own open-weight AI on your own hardware. We teach both, honestly.
You're not late to any of this. You're arriving with context instead of TikTok fear — which puts you ahead of most.
Three rules for Monday morning
- Don't paste secrets into public cloud chats — no client names, no passwords, no private contracts. Those companies are quietly building a picture of you that most people never realise they're handing over.
- Check anything that matters — money, health, law, safety — even when the answer reads perfectly.
- Question who's deciding what you're allowed to know. Safety theatre and genuine safety aren't the same thing. Build your own where you can.
